After Assembling Bicycles by Hand, Employees Distribute Bikes to Numerous Capital Region Youth Organizations

Clifton Park, New York – On December 23, 2015, employees from County Waste, a Waste Connections company, loaded up the final 40 of 148 bicycles they assembled.  The bikes were distributed to various Capital Region youth organizations. County Waste donated bicycles to 7 different nonprofits in Albany, Ballston Spa, Clifton Park, Troy, Schenectady, Nassau, and Hoosick Falls. From there, these organizations distribute the bicycles to families in need or utilize them at the organization.

This is the fifteenth year that Waste Connections has participated in a nationwide bicycle donation to area youth. Last year, Waste Connections donated 2,500 bicycles across the country. This year, bikes were dropped off at several area organizations, including CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services of Clifton Park, who received 50 bicycles, and Troy’s Boys & Girls Club, who received 40.

As a team, working together to give back to the deserving children of our region is a privilege. We are both humbled and proud to give back to such inspiring organizations, and we thank them for everything they do for the children and families in the Capital Region.

The Bike Works Program helps children and teens receive a new or lightly-used bicycle to help with recreation, healthy lifestyle, increased self-esteem, and transportation to and from work, school, and social event.
